Immediate family members had a intimate celebration at the Chebeague Island Ferry launch. Wayne's cremains were released along side his mother, Ada (Skehan) Covington and where his father, Lee G. Covington's cremains were spread in 1999. Attendees: Jill and Jon Hamilton (sister and brother-in-law), Kathy Covington (mother of Wayne's children), Wayne Covington Jr (son) and husband Jesus, and Lee Covington (son).

Wayne Charles Covington Sr, aged 67, passed away on September 21, 2023. He was born on October 7, 1955, in Needham, MA. Wayne spent his childhood in Eliot, Maine, and graduated from Marshwood High School in the class of 1974.
Wayne enjoyed countless hours boating with his family, rooting for the New England Patriots, caring for the family Saint Bernards, detailing his vehicles, working in his vegetable gardens, cooking meals for loved ones, spending time on Cape Cod with relatives and having a good night out on the town in downtown Portsmouth.
Wayne is predeceased by his parents, Lee G. Covington and Ada M. (Skehan) Covington, and sister, Valerie Covington St. Onge. He is survived by his sons, Lee G. Covington II and Wayne C. Covington Jr. and husband Jesus Martinez, all of Oakland, CA, the mother of his children, Kathy A. Covington, his sister, Jill Covington Hamilton, and her husband Jon A. Hamilton of York, ME, brother-in-law Richard St. Onge, Jr., niece Melissa St. Onge and nephews Nathan St. Onge and Zack Hamilton.
