Because my brother-in-law was an artist who created a series of artworks inspired by Route 66, I took a series of road trips to scatter Steven's ashes (per his wishes in his will). The first trip covered part of Route 66 through Arizona, including Kingman, Seligman, Flagstaff, Winona, and Winslow. For a second trip, I went from the beginning to the end of Route 66: from Chicago to the Pacific Ocean, Alpha to Omega, including San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, and Santa Monica, California.
In a third trip, I went from my home in Albuquerque east to Tulsa, Oklahoma. The first two stops with this scattering tube were at the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM, and a defunct restaurant in Tucumcari, NM. Other stops included the World's Largest Flipflop in San Jon, NM, the Route 66 Midpoint in Adrian, TX, Cadillac Ranch and the Slug Bug Ranch in Amarillo, TX, the Conoco Tower in Shamrock, TX, the giant cross in Groom, TX, stops in Sayre, Weatherford, Adrian, and Clinton, OK, highlighted by reaching the Blue Whale of Catoosa, the end goal for the trip.
