Penelope Gettig
On the day we buried her at sea, we gathered in a large suite on RCI's Voyager of the Seas. We showed pictures, played songs and told "Penny stories" until it was time for the burial. We gathered at the aft rail of the ship and an RCI representative read a benediction, after which we committed her ashes to the ocean she loved.
My beautiful wife, Penny was born in Fort Worth, TX on February 9th, 1946. She passed away on June 30th, 2023, after a long illness. She was 77. Penny loved travel, cruising, opera, Broadway musicals and, most of all, her family. Our blended family included 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. January 7th, 2023 would have been our 27th wedding anniversary. On that day, I, along with 13 family members who were able to come, buried her ashes at sea. She was a kind and loving soul who could light up a room with her presence. She is sorely missed.
