Marguerite & Ed Wood
Memorial service held in Santa Maria Ca at their former church
They met while Margie was on vacation and Woody was stationed in Hawaii. Margie had one requirement for a husband, he must know how to dance. Woody spotted her from across the room. He told his buddies that is the girl I’m going to marry. He asked her to dance and the rest is history. They danced the night away, and he wooed her from afar after she returned to the mainland. It took a couple of months, but she said yes, and returned back to Hawaii to be married. The spent over 60 glorious years together. They had 3 beautiful children, Michael, Patricia, and Kevin. They made their home in West Covina. Once they became empty nesters they decided the ocean was calling to them once again and moved to Santa Maria, CA. There they enjoyed their church family as well as their new neighbors becoming fast friends with all. They made frequent trips to Pismo where they would watch the sunsets and feed the birds. (I’m pretty sure the birds knew their car). Woody’s ailment required a move back to Temecula so they were a little closer to family. Woody left us in November of 2017. Margie was by his side throughout it all. She was there at care facility everyday. She read to him, held his hand, stayed for meals. (The facility was even kind enough to provide her meals as well). Margie left us in November of 2021 after celebrating her 99th birthday with family. We love them and miss them both as we say our final goodbye and return them to their love, the sea.
