A funeral was held at 9:30 a.m. Monday August 1,2022 from Mamary-Durkin Funeral & Cremation Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, Joseph “Joe” Mamary, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 72.
Joe was born Dec. 13, 1949, in Wilkes-Barre, to the late Subrai Elias Mamary and Hanna Cross Mamary.
Joe graduated from E.L. Meyers High School and grew up working at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home. He received his B.S. in French from King’s College and the University of Laval, Quebec, Canada. Joe was a teacher and wrestling coach at Crestwood High School, and he worked 33 years for Donnelly Directory/Yellowbook, retiring in 2014. His love for cooking led him to purchase Dickey’s Barbecue in Wilkes-Barre Twp. He then went to work for Fox 56-TV as a marketing consultant.
Joe served on the executive board of Catholic Social Services as well as several other community organizations.
He was known for his joke-telling, beautiful smile, kind eyes and compassionate spirit. Joe was a mentor and life coach to many people with whom he worked.
Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew Mamary and Dr. Albert Mamary; and his first wife, Candice Vincent Mamary.
He leaves behind his wife, Linda Salas-Mamary; children, Jennifer Morgan and husband, Aaron; Kimberly Godino; and James Godino and wife, Nicole; grandchildren, James Alexander, Catalia and Grant; sister-in-law and “mother,” Mary Morrash Mamary; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Mamary; nieces and nephews, who were siblings to him, Drew Mamary and wife, Diane; Marianne and husband, Dr. Vincent Turosky; Sandra Mamary and partner, Jodi Anderson; Dr. James Mamary and wife, Celia; and Dr. Ann Mamary; numerous extended family, friends, co-workers and his beloved dog, Chanel.
