He spent many years building a respected career in Florida, earning admiration from crews, colleagues, and clients who saw not only his craftsmanship but also the pride and leadership he carried onto every job site. He was naturally talented — the kind of man who could learn anything, fix anything, and build anything he set his mind to.

In recent years, Jake poured himself into expanding the business in both Florida and Georgia. With his fiancée, Annie, he stepped into new projects and possibilities, and he approached every challenge with the same determination and excellence that defined him. So much of what they built carries his hands, his vision, and his unmistakable strength.

Beyond his accomplishments, Jake was a deeply genuine soul. He was loyal, protective, and soft-hearted beneath his quiet exterior. He cared about people — truly cared — about their struggles, their comfort, and their wellbeing. Jake is survived by his fiancée, Christina (Annie); his children, Julian (21), Shona (21), and Joseph (9); parents, James (Joan) Shoemaker and Luanne Shoemaker; siblings, Michael Gunner, Melissa (Matt) Wagenhauser, and Amberlyn Whitson, along with many Aunts, Uncles, Nephews, and Cousins, who love him and will miss him. He is preceded in death by his cousin, Lisa, and grandparents on both sides.
