Carol grew up on a farm near Jamaica, IA. At age 16, she moved to Des Moines and became a “Register girl” working for the newspaper. She eventually met John Joseph Clow and they married. They had four children and moved several times as John’s work as a steel fabrication estimator took them through Nebraska and Iowa. John passed away Jan 1, 2003. Carol moved on with her life eventually marrying Roger Schenke who had lost his wife earlier. Together Carol and Roger lived in the Des Moines area until Roger’s death. Carol continued living in Des Moines metro area eventually landing at Valley View Village on the east side of Des Moines where she moved through independent to assisted to rehab and eventually long term care that ultimately turned into hospice care.
