Born in 1942 in a small village, Pialan, District Hoshiarpur. Our Dad was the 4th of 5 sons of Bhagat Singh and Charan Kaur Janda. From an early age he was a strong student and gregarious personality. He went on to become the first person to graduate from University in his village. Dad moved to Canada in May 1969 and after 1 year in a sawmill, obtained his Real Estate license. He was one of the first South Asian people to do so in the country. Dad married our Mother in 1971 in Yuba City, California and went on to have 3 children: Pindy, Jodi and Harjaib.
He was a debonair, dashing titan of a man — confident, commanding, and unforgettable. The center of attention wherever he went, Dad had the rare ability to own every room — with his charm, sharp wit, and straight-shooting honesty.
Dad believed in the power of education, public service, drive, and discipline, and he built a life grounded in ambition, loyalty, and love.
He leaves behind a legacy through his beloved wife of 54 years, Manjit, son Harjaib, daughter-in-law Zeena, daughter Joti, son-in-law Shawn, daughter Pindy and his five grandchildren Jaya, Riya, Zavier, Talene and Nya — who were the light of his life.
We will forever carry his lessons, laughter, and love in our hearts.
