Agnes Montaperto
We celebrated her life with a memorial mass on what would have been her 91st birthday in the church where her children and grandchildren were baptized - St Mary’s Star of the Sea in Carroll Gardens Brooklyn. Following the mass, we all had dinner at her favorite restaurant, La Petite Cafe. It was how she would have wanted to spend the day.
We chose a family of beautiful White Pine trees in Owl’s Head Park, Brooklyn. She loved Mother Nature and being surrounded by plants and flowers. As a family, we visited this park when we were children. She will always be with us wherever we are. Rest in peace mom, we love you. xo
Our beautiful mom Agnes passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 surrounded by the family she loved so much.
She was born during the depression in St. Thomas, V.I. Life was hard there during that time and she bravely moved to NYC on her own to join her brother and start a new life. She was independent and supported herself working in a factory in Brooklyn where she met our father.
She was a private person, preferring to spend her time with family. She loved flowers, a good cup of coffee, and cooking. Her pot roasts and fresh bread were legendary.
She was never, ever late, not for an appointment or paying a bill and she never threw promises around lightly. If she said she was going to do something she did it and expected the same of you.
She had a beautiful smile and her face lit up when she laughed.
She was strong and stubborn and sensitive and sweet and we will miss her every day.
