Today we gather to celebrate the life of Teegan Ivy Ellis – and woman whose bright smile and free spirit touched everyone she met.
Teegan was born on the 28th of June 1995, after a long 15 labour on a cold afternoon at Armidale hospital.
From the very beginning, she was cherished daughter to Sharon and Dennis and adored baby sister to her twin brothers, Andrew and Jake. Dennis wss over the moon to meet his little girl
and from that day forward was forever know as daddy’s girl .
Her childhood was filled with laughter and and love. In 2001 Teegan began her schooling at Mt St John primary in Dorrigo, starting kindergarten in a class of just 4.
She was a little girl with big dreams and even bigger heart.
Sharon fondly remembers Teegans first crush- Nathan from HI-5 and how she collected every HI-5 VCR she could find so Teegan could dance and song along. She loved her bratz dolls, turning her favourite doll house into a hotel for them and spent countless afternoons playing crash bandicoot and Harry Potter on the play station with her brothers, or riding push bikes around the neighbourhood.
Highschool at Dorrigo came next. Teegan wasn’t one for sports or clubs but she made friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Like her bond with Jess Bower which continued even after Jess moved away.
Teegan worked for the Bellingen Shire council and loved being apart of the team.
She was operating heavy machinery and also had her truck licence which both parents were very proud of.
Teegan loved Dorrigo deeply -the weather the land, the openness and the quite. Sharon laughed remembering Teegan already complaining about the heat in October.
She was the happiest in jeans, a green t-shirt and her vans, ready for an adventure.
Teegan had a passion for travel, exploring many states and sharing her stories with friends and family. She was excited for her next adventure, heading to New Zealand next year to celebrate her cousin Hannah’s wedding. That was Teegan, always looking forward, always ready for the next chapter.
Her soul mate was her beloved dog, Abbey- affectionately nicknamed Bumble Bee or BumBee. Jake joked that Abbey was Teegans “Overweight daughter” and while Teegan might not have loved that comment, it spoke of the depth of her love for her furry friend.
Abbie was truly blessed to find her forever home with Teegan, who taught her tricks like sitting in a box, shaking hands and rolling over before dinner. There may never have been a more photographed or adored dog.
Teegan loved the colour green, her bright red car (that know one else was allowed to drive) and keeping her dad organised.
She treasured her friends- Christy, Savannah and Sarah. I think we all adored the pictures from Sarah’s recent hen’s weekend and wedding.
She was a woman who embraced life fully, who loved deeply and who brought joy wherever she went.
Teegans story is one of love, laughter and adventure, she was a bright light in our lives and though her time with us feels far too short, her spirit will live on in every memory, every smile and every heart she touched.
Rest peacefully Teegan
You will always be loved
And you will NEVER be forgotten.
