Rebecca Gwen (Jones) Charest
Daughter Leslie Charest, and four of Becky's closest friends (Gayle, Betty, Marci, and Samantha) gathered at Jakes, in Great Falls, for a meal and memories with picture board and urn on Wednesday evening, January 3, 2024. Sherry Charest, daughter, was given the picture board for her own celebration with friends. Becky's wishes were not to have a formal funeral at the funeral home, or an obituary placed.
Leslie Charest (daughter), Jospeh Dalton (JD) Charest (grandson), Jake Meek (grandson), and Dale Shenefelt (friend) spread Becky's ashes on June 21, 2024, on Hardy Creek, at Cascade, Montana as per her express wishes. A simple ceremony was performed. Permission was granted from the landowner who recognized Bob Vernon's name when asked for a reference to enter private property. Croxford Funeral Home of Great Falls provided scattering urn.
March 5, 1941, to December 28, 2023. Loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother. Artist extraordinaire. Becky loved nature and particularly animals, both wild and domestic. She always had a pet dog and sometimes a pet bird, cat, or a tank of fish. She fed the squirrels nuts (straight from her back door from her own hand) and kept bird baths and houses for the wild birds/squirrels. Her backyard reminded one of a park, and even had bunnies. She spent a great deal of time on her deck enjoying the fresh air and the animals drawn to her yard. She was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1087.
She was born to Lionel Troy Jones and Beatrice Virginia (Canup) Jones. She is survived by her daughter’s Leslie Anne Charest and Sherry Leigh Charest, her grandson’s Christopher Scott Jensen, Joseph Dalton (JD) Charest, and Jacob Allen Meek, her brother’s Stephen Durand Jones and Lionel Troy Jones, Jr. Her ex-husband, Richard Jospeh Charest also survives her. She was pre-deceased by her sister Robin Adair Jones and both parents.
