Sunday 26th May 2024 We had special permission to drive onto the Cruise Terminal landing stage and we were a few feet from where the Tilbury Ferry would have departed from. I threw the parcel urn into the Thames off the end of the landing stage. It was a lovely day. The staff at Port of Tilbury were very helpful and kind.
On 19th September 2024 we took a smaller parcel urn of ashes onto the Woolwich Ferry. Part way across the Thames we threw it in. Another beautiful day.
Our wonderful Dad lived a full and well travelled life, and he passed away at nearly 95, in 2022. He was a Marine Engineer and spent many years at sea or on the Thames. This river must have held significance for him, as he had requested his ashes to be scattered from either the Tilbury Ferry or the Woolwich Ferry. Sadly the one at Tilbury had stopped running, so we found the nearest alternative.
