Kelly Stannard passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont, ending her courageous eight-month battle with a glioblastoma. She was born on January 28, 1965, in Burlington, Vermont, to the late Peter and Joyce Stannard. As the youngest of the family, she learned the value of love, resilience, and hard work.
Kelly graduated from Winooski High School in 1983, where she went on to work at the Burlington Free Press, Lane Press, Champlain Valley Fair, and most recently, Special Services Transportation Agency (SSTA). She had a passion for crafting, specifically sewing. She attended many craft fairs and enjoyed creating quilts and doll clothes. She loved sharing her creations with her family and friends.
Kelly is survived by her sisters, Linda Thibault and Diane Daubenschmidt; brother-in-law, Mark Daubenschmidt; niece, Heather Osborne (Tyler); nephew, Mark Daubenschmidt Jr (Cameron); aunt, Sandra (Harry) Jacobs; cousins, Charlie Hahn, Darlene Peters, and Jada Argento, and Jayson Argento; great nephews, Connor and Grayson; and great niece, Nora. She is also survived by her dear friends Sharon Loiselle, Nicole Yandow, and Angie Morrill. Kelly was predeceased by her parents, as well as her sisters, Cindy Stannard and Deborah (Stannard) Martell; grandmother, Eva “Nanny” Stannard; and her beloved dog, Coco.
Kelly’s family would like to thank the McClure Miller Respite House, Fanny Allen Rehabilitation, and UVM Medical Center for their deepest care and support.
Kelly will be remembered for her creativity, humor, and love for dogs. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. At Kelly’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
