John William Carr
John was farewelled by friends and family at a funeral service at 3.00pm on 16 January 2024, at Tobin Bros Contempory Chapel, Nettlefold Street, Belconnen, ACT. He was cremated at Gunghalin Crematorium the following day. As per John's wishes his ashes where interred in an environmentally friendly papier mache turtle. As close family watched on he was floated into the Yass River at O'Connor Park, Yass, NSW on Sunday 13 February at 3.00pm. The river at Yass was a particularly favourite spot for John and Margaret as they used to walk there 3 times a week when they lived in Yass. Yass was John's favourite home. John was also a fisherman and lover of the peace and beauty of nature, so this was a very fitting place for his final journey and eternal rest.
Born in Blacktown NSW on 8 February 1935, to Parents James Carr and Isabella Violet Stewart.
Born the third of four children and grew up in Nowra where he trained as a Radio & Television Technician. Married Margaret Anne Pike, a Stenographer when he was 21 and she was 19. They have 3 children, 6 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. John has lived in Wollongong NSW, Nowra NSW, Canberra ACT, Perth WA and Yass NSW.
