We had a celebration of Life at The Outrigger Canoe Club with family and friends. We paddled out about a 1/4 mile in front of the War Memorial Natatorium in Honolulu and placed the envelope with John's ashes in the ocean. A turtle came to take him on his final journey. At the same time the surf came up and he was able to enjoy one last ride.
John succumbed to a bacterial infection from a fall on a coral reef in Honolulu. He lived a full life with many friends. He was a “Waterman”. He loved surfing, snorkeling, paddling, etc
He was loved by his family and will be missed.
