Cynthia Dee Bowman
Dee's family gathered at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetary to give rememberance talks and play songs that had special meaning to them. Her ashes were then interred at the site.
Her resting place in the cemetary is just past the start of Paw Paw trail, to the left in a small clearing between the trees. The GPS coordinates are 29.591614-82.236993. Her grave is marked with a small engraved marker with her name on it.
Born March 10, 1953 in Birmingham AL, the first child of Ben and Cindy Miller. She was called Dee, and had two brothers, Chris and David. The family eventually settled in Fort Lauderdale when Dee was a young girl. As a teenager she attended St. Thomas Aquainas High School. She was a cheerleader, and it was there she met two lifelong friends – Mary Beth Curran Butcher and Susan Engel Bowman. Sue ultimately became her Sister-in-law. While in high school, she met the person who would eventually become her husband, Jim Bowman. They married on April 1, 1979. After completing college at Florida Atlantic University, Dee started her career teaching Language Arts. Over the years she taught at the High School and Middle School levels. Her final decade of teaching was at Tequesta Trace Middle School. She retired in 2015. Jim & Dee had four children – Lindsey, Amy, Andrew and Daniel. They lived in Plantation for almost 37 years, then moved to Ocala in 2021. They have four grandchildren – Abby, Asher, Ben and Janis – plus a new one coming in December 2023. Dee loved her friends and family. She was the kindest person you could meet, and the most wonderful wife and mother anyone could ask for. She was one of a kind. We lost her on November 7, 2023.
