Her husband, family and close friends gathered to remember and honor her in the summer of 2024 with a Celebration of LIfe at Providence Point, where she lived for the last 5 years of her life.

Brenda enjoyed many years of travel and leisure in Hilton Head, SC with her husband Jack and other friends and family. She was laid to rest at sea with the playful dolphins on February 24, 2025 in the Calabogue Sound just off the tip of Hilton Head island by Jack. The sea was incredibly calm and a pod of dolphins actively played around the boat at the time of the release.

Brenda was the loving and admired wife of Jack Shirey (Pittsburgh, PA) for over 50 years. She enjoyed being a mother and grandmother while also being an avid golfer, puzzle and crossword doer, traveler, and many other types of recreational activities. She loved her family and community and was loved for her sense of humor, sharp wit, and never ending patience. She will be incredibly missed and her imprint on her family will never fade.
