John E Sweeney
Our two children and I traveled to Cape Cod, MA to spread his ashes near his favorite fishing spots. He loved to go out fishing for "Blues". After fishing all day, he and his friends would go to Brax's Landing for dinner and drinks. We had an excellent dinner of grilled swordfish at Brax.

John Edmund Sweeney, 71 of Alpharetta GA died on 1/11/2024 after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Alison Hill Sweeney and children, Samuel and Elizabeth (Libby).
John was born in Pittsburgh, PA and grew up in Loudonville, NY and Hingham, MA. He attended Northeastern University, graduating with an engineering degree in 1974. John worked at Honeywell, Inc. in 1974, starting his career there as a co-op student while at Northeastern University. In 1982, John began his 29 year career at Scientific Atlanta/Cisco as an executive account manager, then product development manager.
John was known for being able to fix almost anything that was broken or if he felt it needed be improved upon. We knew something was truly broken when he wasn’t able to repair it. He loved technology and electronics. He was the primary “tech support” in the family. John was a strong, quiet presence in our family, a mentor, an unfailing cheerleader and advocate for all of us.
He is predeceased by his parents: Edmund (Bud) Sweeney and Katherine Yvette Sweeney of Miami, FL.
Besides his wife and children, John is survived by his sister Kathleen Sweeney Whisler (Tim) of Jacksonville, FL and brother Tom Sweeney (Tammy) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He will be greatly missed by his six nieces and four nephews.
