David Dircksen
David had an amazing celebration of life service held in his honor on Saturday, October 5, 2024. More than 250 attended the standing room only service, from childhood friends from long ago to those he worked with closely along with many family members including his parents, brother, David’s wife, their four children and their families and his church friends. The following Thursday at the Local 4 ILWU union hall, around 300 longshoremen came out for lunch to remember David and share stories of what a good man, worker and friend he was to them- even a story of having saved a coworkers life, named Doug, many years back.
David will be remembered in many ways. By some it will be by his smile, his laughter, helpfulness, friendship, work ethic or a funny spontaneous story. He was a giver. For us, we remember those things but in our minds, his love, caring and passion to love his family fiercely is the standout. Quantity and quality of life both mattered to him. Minutes matter. He always wanted what was best for us and worked hard to try to make things good for us. His smile lit his eyes up and I will never forget it. ♥️
David’s life was cut way too short at 54 years old. Cancer is a viscous ravager of life and doesn’t wait or go slow.
He fought hard until Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 9:46 am when he went to be with the Lord.
His legacy is love, laughter, music, his yard, working hard and enjoying the company of his family and friends. He made a great impact on people who loved him, his coworkers, friends and his church.
The world needs more good people like him and he is missed dearly. ♥️
