A group of 14 family members and close friends took the Whidby Island ferry from Port Townsend, Washington. The ferry slowed down, allowing time for the group to share a short remembrance poem and then his ashes were gently tossed into Puget Sound.

Harvey was a dedicated English teacher for 33 years at Plainville High School in Plainville, Connecticut. He was also a tennis and track coach. He moved with his wife Karen to Port Townsend, Washington in 1997, where he enjoyed a busy, active life.
