Thomas and Georgina Volk
Their daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren and son-in law sailed to Santa Cruz Island, one of their favorite Channel Islands. We spent the day enjoying the water. Before heading back to the mainland, Kristen, one granddaughter read a poem (they had a line of this poem carved inside their West Sail) before sending them to their final resting spot.
They are being remembered at Smugglers Cove of Santa Cruz Island.
Thomas had many accomplishments as a community leader, including being a lifeguard and harbor master in Santa Monica, Project Manager of the design and development of Channel Islands Harbor and the Director of Administration leading the development of the airports, parks and harbor.
One could always find Tom around the water or being active in nature. He built a blue water sailboat, was an avid sailor, dory racer, surfer, hiker, backpacker, swimmer, runner and water polo player.
One could always find Georgina around the water, she was involved in water shows for USO, surfing, paddle boarding competitions for Manoa Paddle Club, and swimming. She and her husband, built a blue water sailboat enjoying sailing the Channel Islands with their family, later sailing the west coast from British Colombia, Canada to Baja, Mexico.
