We said our final goodbyes to you on the 18th March 2024, at St Mary’s Church Broadwater, Worthing. You had your favourite UB40 songs played and had a buffet of pick and mix sweets for everyone to enjoy! You never turned up anywhere empty handed, always with gifts and sweets…
We will lay your ashes to rest with your first born Tina, who left for Heaven long ago and has been waiting for you to join her there. So we say goodbye Dad, for now….
Dave, Dad, Grandad, Uncle Dave and Slide were the names we knew you by. You were born into a situation that you did not ask for, yet you were able to turn your extremely unfavourable beginnings into a new and fruitful life. You married Agnes in 1971 and had 4 beautiful children together. An uncle and brother to many and a Grandad to 7 wonderful grandchildren who adore you so very much! Highly skilled, intelligent and a diligent hard worker meant you were one of a kind in your work life, everyone could count on Slide to get the job done. Your array of life experiences had everyone wanting to draw close to hear your magical accounts. You were the life and soul of every family party, dancing the night away to your favourite UB40 songs.
You took a piece of us all when you left for Heaven on the 19th February 2024, surrounded by your closest family. But, you left us with such glorious memories full of your unfailing love, generosity and trustworthiness. There is no doubt that you live on within your Children and Grandchildren…..
